The Woodland Park Art Walk: How to Spend First Friday on Midland Avenue

2 min read

Picture crisp mountain air, string lights over Midland Avenue, local artists showing their latest work, and shop doors propped open well into the evening. That is First Friday in Woodland Park, and it is one of our favorite nights of the month.

The First Friday Art Walk runs the first Friday of every month from 4 PM to 7 PM. It is a free, self guided stroll, and the best place to begin is Reserve Our Gallery at 400 W Midland Ave. Make it your first stop: pick up the event map, see the featured local paintings, pottery, and photography, and get a feel for the evening's theme before you wander downtown at your own pace. Prefer daytime? The DIY Art Passport runs Fridays and Saturdays from 12 PM to 4 PM, so you can explore the stops on your own schedule.

Starting at the gallery also sets up a fun contrast for the night: fine art on the walls at Reserve Our Gallery, then wearable art on the racks just down the street at Timeless Niche.

Our November walk carries the theme Stop and Shop, an early holiday kickoff, which makes it the perfect night to find one of a kind gifts made or curated right here in Teller County. Follow the official First Friday Art Walk Woodland Park page on Facebook for each month's theme and participating stops.

Timeless Niche is proud to be part of the walk. To us, true vintage is wearable art: handpicked 70s jackets, western silhouettes, worn in denim, and union made pieces that each carry decades of story. Stop by 110 W Midland Ave, Unit 3 to browse the racks between gallery visits.

Here is our ideal First Friday itinerary:

  1. Park free in the public lot behind The Woodland Social, just steps from our door.
  2. Start at Reserve Our Gallery, 400 W Midland Ave, to grab your map and see the featured artists.
  3. Grab coffee, a bite, or dinner at The Woodland Social for coffee, breakfast, lunch or dinner.
  4. Tour the rest of the galleries and art stops along Midland Avenue with your map in hand.
  5. Dig through our racks for a vintage find or an early holiday gift.
  6. Finish the night with dinner or drinks downtown before heading home.

Whether you are coming up from Colorado Springs, Manitou Springs, or anywhere in Teller County, First Friday is an easy, memorable mountain evening. We will see you on Midland Avenue.
